Hanauma Bay changing to winter hours starting Wednesday

East O‘ahu -- The Hanauma Bay Nature Preserve will change to its winter hours schedule starting tomorrow, Wednesday, September 5, which means the park will be closing an hour earlier.

Hanuama Bay will be open from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. every day, except on Tuesdays, which is set aside for maintenance and upkeep work. Hanauma Bay is also closed on Christmas Day and New Year's Day.

The Hanauma Bay Lecture Series presented by the University of Hawai‘i Sea Grant College will continue to be held on Thursday evenings at 6:30 p.m.

Seasonal hours at the Hanauma Bay Nature Preserve will be observed as follows, per the Amended Rules and Regulations by Department of Parks and Recreation:

  • Winter hours (6 a.m. -- 6 p.m.) from the day after the Labor Day weekend until the Memorial Day Weekend.
  • Summer hours (6 a.m. -- 7 p.m.) from the Memorial Day Weekend through the Labor Day weekend.
