New, improved phone service beginning with reopening of Hanauma Bay Nature Preserve
New phone number for staff and information hotline is (808) 768-6861
HANAUMA BAY -- As one of the State's most pristine nature preserves reopens today following a week-long road repaving project, the phone system for the Hanauma Bay Nature Preserve is being upgraded and changed.
Previously there were two phone numbers for public access to staff and information at Hanauma Bay. The main line for staff was (808) 395-2211, and a separate information hotline existed at (808) 396-4229 with prerecorded messages about the nature preserve. Now, both services will be combined into one single phone number, (808) 768-6861.
Upon calling the new phone number a menu of options will be provided to callers to better direct them to information or staff.
The phone number for the education center will remain the same at (808) 397-5840.
Similar upgrades to additional DPR facilities in park districts 1 and 2 were announced in April 2019.
The Department of Parks and Recreation appreciates the understanding and patience of the public while these improvements were made, both to the phone service and the roadway into the nature preserve.
